Senior Backend Engineer

Senior Backend Engineer at Zerion. Fully remote, team worldwide; time zones close to Europe a plus. Backend team builds scalable distributed systems powering Zerion API and Wallet, including Web3 platform components.

Zerion's backend team builds and evolves the systems at the core of its products and customer-facing solutions: Zerion API, trusted by 50+ crypto and fintech brands, and Zerion Wallet with 1.7M+ active funded wallets. AI is a core part of how the team works day to day. Responsibilities: - Design, build, and maintain scalable distributed backend systems powering platform and product capabilities - Own backend services end-to-end: from architecture and implementation to monitoring and long-term reliability - Work closely with product and engineering peers to shape product decisions - Scope solutions with clients building on the API: turn a vague request into a concrete proposal and plan - Build and evolve Web3 platform backend components: protocol integrations, support for emerging blockchain networks, reliable smart-contract interactions - Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, security, and observability - Use AI as a core part of the engineering workflow (design, review, debug, ship)

- 5+ years designing and building distributed backend systems - Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns - Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment; strong ownership mindset - Hands-on daily use of AI in engineering work - High standards for code quality, system reliability, and UX - Golang is a plus, not a blocker - Docker & Kubernetes - SQL (Postgres) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) - Monitoring (Sentry, Prometheus, Grafana) - AWS - Python - Bonus: hands-on Web3 experience (blockchain systems, dApps, smart contracts)
