Landscape / Technical Environment Artist (Gaea + UE5)
We are looking for a Landscape / Technical Environment Artist to create a large-scale world map in Gaea and UE5. Responsibilities include landscape creation, material setup, and populating the global map. Requires proficiency in Gaea and Unreal Engine.
Creation of a large-scale world map. We use a 'Global Map + Individual Locations' pipeline. We need someone to lay the foundation of the world. Responsibilities: • Creating landscapes in Gaea based on provided 2D concepts. • Exporting and correctly importing 16-bit Heightmaps into UE 5.5. • Setting up a Master landscape material (Auto-material) using masks (Splatmaps) from Gaea. • Optimizing the landscape material (Shared: Wrap, Channel Packing). • Rough population of the global map (Layout): placing rivers (Water Plugin/Splines) and low-poly city mockups.
• Proficiency in Gaea (creating erosion graphs, mask exposition). • Deep understanding of landscape functionality in Unreal Engine (Landscape Mode, Layers). • Ability to pack masks into RGB channels for optimization. • Understanding of basic lighting (Lumen) and atmospheric effects (Fog, Sky Atmosphere) to create a 'view from space' effect.
