Lead Backend Developer (PHP/Laravel)

Lead Backend Developer (PHP/Laravel) for an international VPN product. Remote, distributed Russian-speaking team. Role is ~60% management, ~40% hands-on. Team of 5 backend developers.

International VPN product is looking for a backend team lead. The team is Russian-speaking, distributed, and works remotely. Role format: ~60% management / ~40% hands-on. Team: 5 backend developers. Stack: PHP 7.4/8.*, Laravel 7/8/11, MySQL 8, Redis/Memcache, queues, Nginx, Git/Composer, *nix CLI. Bonus: experience with Node.js. Tasks: Leading the backend team (planning, prioritization, deadlines), code review. Developing features and integrations (including payment systems). Optimizing/refactoring Laravel code (without "heavy legacy"). Grooming/decomposition, task management in YouTrack (Dashboards, Gantt). Code/task documentation. Sometimes - Blade (main frontend is done by FE).

7+ years of commercial PHP development experience. Confident Laravel + SQL/Eloquent. Highload experience (understanding resources/bottlenecks). Queues, Redis/Memcache, Nginx, Node.js (desirable), Git, Docker (plus).
