We are looking for a leader to take charge of ranking development, one of the largest ML systems in the country. You will define the future of Search for the coming years. The role involves managing a team of 35+ ML engineers, defining search quality strategy, and building a separate 'Search for AI' mode.

We are looking for a leader to take charge of ranking development, one of the largest ML systems in the country. You will define the future of Search for the coming years. What tasks await you: • Search Quality: Define the ranking development strategy, formulate search quality requirements, and launch improvements that change the entire search results. • Search for AI: Currently, 'Search for people' (blue links) and 'Search for AI' are one service, although their tasks are different. Ranking is optimized for the behavior of Russian-speaking users. Our goal is to build a separate 'Search for AI' mode that will end-to-end improve the quality of Yandex's generative products. • Leadership and Management: You will lead a team of 35+ ML engineers working on ranking: set goals, prioritize directions, and bring initiatives to production. You will help engineers and team leads grow and foster a strong engineering culture. • Technological Agenda: Neural retrieval, powerful reranker models, and integration into generative systems are changing the architecture of search platforms. Our task is to strengthen ML approaches, simplify the architecture, and make Search faster for experiments and the launch of new technologies.

We expect you to: • Have managed a large ML team, developed engineers, and grown leaders • Have a strong technical background in search or recommendations • Be able to formulate a technological strategy • Have launched major changes in complex systems
