Hardware Engineer (Electronics)
Hardware Engineer (Electronics) at WirenBoard, Moscow, Russia. Full-time, hybrid. Salary 170,000–300,000. Develop schematics and PCBs for automation hardware: controllers, I/O modules, sensors, meters.
Develop schematics and route PCBs for new and existing devices. Analyze real device failures: find the root cause rather than suppressing symptoms — and turn it into a change in schematic or production process. Maintain existing products through revisions: improve schematics and layout, study requests, research analogues, select components as problems arise — components are discontinued, cheaper or more reliable alternatives are found, requirements change. Conduct experiments and tests: test new components as replacements for old ones, test devices in different modes and conditions. Participate in preparing devices for production: write and update production instructions, improve line tests. We make hardware for automation — controllers, I/O modules, sensors, electricity meters. Since 2013, over 100 products in the lineup, 34,000+ installations worldwide. Software is mostly open source, hosted on GitHub. Our products live for years, have thousands of installations in real conditions — and this sets engineering tasks of a completely different level than development from scratch: why a specific batch of components behaves differently, what actually happens at the customer site after two years of operation, how not to break compatibility while improving a revision.
Knowledge of digital and analog electronics. SPI, I2C, UART, RS-485 (Modbus), Ethernet — and able to debug them not in theory but by real signal on an oscilloscope. Understanding how to change an existing schematic or board — compatibility, component availability, backward compatibility with already released batches. Debugging on a bench with multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, electronic load — and ability to actually use them, not just have them in a cabinet. English at the level of reading technical documentation.
Full-time, hybrid format. Salary: 170,000–300,000. Employment according to the Labor Code, no grey schemes. Own production — you can walk over and see how what you edit goes onto the line. Conferences, we hold and take part in. No bureaucracy: if a decision is reasonable, it does not need to be defended before five instances. Lunches, discounts on English and on a psychologist, if needed. Office with table tennis and massage chair — 15 minutes walk from MCD-1 Novodachnaya. All conditions for comfortable work are arranged inside the office.
