Godot Developer / Local LLM 2D Visual Novel 18+ with AI Characters
Godot/GDScript developer to integrate a local LLM into a ready 2D visual novel (18+) with AI-driven characters. Fully remote, 70,000 RUB net/month, 37.5 h/week. New AI Avatars project, architecture already in place.
AI Avatars is starting a new project — a 2D visual novel where characters are driven by a local language model. Development is just beginning, but the foundation is ready: the visual novel architecture on Godot is done, so core game mechanics won't have to be built from scratch. The key task is to embed a local LLM into the existing structure and build a full context and memory system for the characters around it. The main challenge is making the model work stably and predictably inside the game: tracking hero state and interaction history while staying within local execution and an 8 GB VRAM limit. Responsibilities: - Embed a local LLM into the existing Godot project - Configure and run the model locally for game tasks - Design a context and character memory management system on top of the LLM - Organize storage and transfer of data about heroes, events, and past dialogues - Build context and prompts for different game situations - Control context size and ensure the model receives only relevant information - Link game state to NPC behavior and lines - Embed LLM responses into the existing dialogue system of the visual novel - Work with asynchrony: requests, waiting for responses, game states - Handle errors, timeouts, and situations when the model is unavailable - Optimize memory consumption and performance for 8 GB VRAM - Evolve the LLM integration architecture without breaking existing systems - Write tools that allow adding new characters and scenarios without rewriting the core - Participate in designing new systems related to AI characters
We are waiting for you if: - You have commercial experience developing on Godot / GDScript - You confidently understand someone else's code and can work with an existing project - You understand how scenes, signals, resources, and game states work in Godot - You understand the principles of LLMs and running models locally - You have already integrated LLMs, local models, or AI services into applications in practice - You understand that "LLM memory" is not a built-in model feature but a separate context and data management system - You can design storage and transfer of context - You are aware of the limits of context window, model size, and RAM consumption - You work with asynchronous operations and handle errors correctly - You are attentive to edge cases and stability issues - You are ready to independently learn new tools and technologies - You find a balance between solution quality and complexity Nice to have: - Experience with local LLMs - Familiarity with Ollama, llama.cpp, GGUF, or similar tools - Experience with quantization and model optimization - Work with context, memory, RAG, or similar approaches - Building AI/NPC systems in games - Developing visual novels, RPGs, or other story-driven games - Working with dialogue systems and plot branching - Optimizing applications for limited hardware - Understanding of generative model specifics and prompt engineering - Projects or pet projects with LLMs that can be shown
- 37.5 hours per week — you plan your own schedule - 70,000 RUB net - Payments twice a month, stable - Fully remote work with no office attachment - A new project at the start — you can influence the architecture and key technical decisions - Ready-made visual novel architecture on Godot — no need to start from scratch
