Backend Developer for the "Own Fleet" Car Fleet Management Platform Team

Backend Developer for the "Own Fleet" car fleet management platform team at Yandex. Develops a platform for car fleet management and B2B car rentals. Requires Java 17+ and microservices experience.

We are developing a platform for car fleet management and B2B car rentals. We manage 3600 trucks and 15 vans, processing several thousand rentals daily. We integrate fleet owners, rental partners, and drivers into a single system. Our backend works with real hardware: telemetry from CAN bus, GPS, remote control of locks and engines, Bluetooth access to cars in unstable internet conditions. Your tasks will include: • Architecture Development: Independently design new services, make architectural decisions, and ensure their quality. Six microservices are already launched, and we continue to build a reliable and scalable system. • Complex Integrations: Our backend interacts with vehicle telematics equipment via Yandex Drive, mobile SDK in Yandex Pro, Yandex Gas Stations, and Parkomatika. You will need to understand the domain and find solutions where ready answers are not available. • Process Automation: Build processes for repair approvals, spare parts accounting, and technical inspections, transforming manual operations into reliable automated workflows. • Product Influence: Every developer has a real voice in what and how we build.

We expect you to: • Have strong Java skills or be ready to switch to Java 17+ • Have experience working in a product-focused team • Have experience with microservice architecture and asynchronous communication (Kafka or similar) • Design services and databases, and be able to justify your decisions • Write and optimize complex SQL queries It will be a plus if you: • Have worked with ClickHouse • Have worked with telematics or IoT devices • Are familiar with DDD and event-driven architectures
