ABNormal Studio is seeking a Middle Technical Artist for a remote contract role. The position involves working with UE5 to develop advanced scene capture pipelines, transforming 3D environments into 2D outputs while preserving rendering data. Compensation is $40-$100/hour.

ABNormal Studio is looking for a UE5 Technical Artist to work on advanced scene capture pipelines. The role focuses on transforming high-quality 3D environments into responsive 2D outputs while preserving essential rendering data such as normals, height, and color. You will collaborate with the team to ensure visual consistency and technical accuracy across the project. Responsibilities • Develop and implement UE-based scene capturing workflows • Maintain Macro-Normals, Heights, Beauty Colorings, and other key data • Convert 3D visuals into high-fidelity 2D reacting to lighting • Optimize LOD and lighting channels • Participate in team meetings to ensure alignment • Handle additional technical art tasks as needed

Required Skills • Experience with Unreal Engine • Strong understanding of rendering, shading, and lighting • Knowledge of PBR texturing workflows • Programming basics for technical art tasks • Experience in environment design and game development • Ability to work with both 3D and 2D pipelines • Good communication and teamwork skills Nice to Have • Experience with Houdini • Experience with Substance 3D Designer and Substance 3D Painter • Generalist background in technical art • Strong problem-solving skills in real-time rendering
