3D Map Animator
Praetorium Media seeks a 3D Map Animator for The Hidden States, a YouTube geography documentary channel. Rate $4-8/min; salary $1200-$1500/month after 2 months; bonuses. Flexible schedule.
The Hidden States is a faceless YouTube channel making documentaries about America's forgotten regions, history, disasters, and local stories. Maps are central to the films. Responsibilities: - Animate 3D maps built on real geographic data, with regions drawn along actual borders - Camera work across terrain: travelling over land, drawing boundaries, lighting regions as they are revealed - Put history onto the ground where it happened: floods tracing a valley, distances measured across a route, water rising over a town
What's important: - You animate from real boundary data, not by tracing shapes by eye - Experience with After Effects + GEOlayers, Blender, Cinema 4D or Google Earth Studio - One map or diagram sequence in your portfolio counts for more than a full showreel
What we offer: - A written shot-by-shot storyboard of the introduction, with timings, camera moves, and captions decided before you start. Minimal revisions, no guessing. - Direct access to the founder — no agency layer, no ticket queue - Flexible schedule with clear deadlines - Bonuses for viral videos Compensation: - Rate: $4-8 per minute depending on skill level + monthly bonuses for milestones reached - Salary: $1200-$1500 per month (to be explored after working together for 2 months, not mandatory) - Paid test sample: $50 fee for a completed sample that meets the brief; test task deadline is 2 days
