2D Artist for Dark Fantasy Alchemy Game

The client in this game is part of the gameplay. The player should read from the appearance: disease, poison, fear, curse, wound, magical instability, social threat, or traces of dark magic. Future tasks may include: shop background, UI elements, ingredient icons, items, visual effects, overall art polish. Visual direction: dark fantasy, grim medieval, alchemical shop, anxious coziness, slightly uncanny. Need expressive silhouettes, readable emotions, good work with half-light, feeling of candles, wood, herbs, glass, metal, old paper, dark but cozy atmosphere. Not bright fantasy, not anime, not 1:1 realism, atmospheric 2D stylization. Mood references: Strange Horticulture, Darkest Dungeon (as a contrast/anxiety/expressiveness reference), illustrated narrative/deduction games.

Practical experience in 2D art. Up-to-date portfolio. Ability to work with layers. Understanding of silhouette, color, light, composition, and readability. Ability to convey emotions through face, pose, and details. Willingness to work within the chosen style. Ability to maintain visual consistency between clients. Careful preparation of PSD/PNG for further use in Unity. Calm attitude to revisions. Interest in atmospheric narrative/deduction/dark fantasy games. Nice to have: experience with 2D assets for games, understanding of Unity pipeline, experience preparing sprites with layers, experience with game UI, basic understanding of game design, love for grim stylization, alchemy, medieval, shops, strange clients, and visual storytelling.

Remote. Project/part-time employment. Payment is negotiable, work is paid. First stage is a paid test assignment or a small test package. Further cooperation possible on other clients, shop, UI, items, and polish. Communication directly with solo developer, no bureaucracy, no daily standups, no time tracking.
